BTS

When surfing on the internet on Moslem life in South Korea, I found people singing covering BTS songs. So far, I have heard people talking about BTS but I am not interested at all. For me, K-Pop is just guys with make-up – where they have similar faces - showing off their six-pack jumping up and down singing unfamiliar Korean song. Many Indonesian love K-pop, but it is not my taste.

Then I listen to Spring day. Watched the music video and found some people interpreting the video. I was stoned. So much symbolism behind the video. So many literatures you have to read and with that knowledge, you compose them into a song lyric and music video. Who did that ? The answer is, the 148 IQ guy. I start to explore who are they?

This 148 guy spoke in front of UN meeting. Talking about “loving yourself”, about how important it is for him, for the group member as well as for the young generation. South Korea itself possess the fifth highest rank of suicide in the world. The Bridge of Death in Seoul is a popular place for ending one’s life. It seems like life is similar to a computer software. When you fail or lose something, just Ctrl+Alt+Dell then things start from the beginning again. Korean people believe in the concept of “rebirth”. The problem is, will they be rebirth as a human or something else? No one knows. Perhaps a cat ?. I have 20 cats at home, may be one of them was a Korean before.  

However, being easily frustrated then committed suicide due to failure not only occur in South Korea. It happens all over the world. In this materialized world, people tend to judge the others according to their visual appearance.  Time is precious so do things in a rapid way. Level of success standardized with the brand you wear. The word of wisdom disappears gradually, when young people are busy with their cell phone ignoring parents’ words. People forget that failure is the mother of success. We learn from mistakes. Even sometime mistakes make life better in the future. Pao de Lo – the Portugal sponge cake – was famous because of one’s mistake. The cake supposed to be presented for the King, since the Nunes – who created the recipe - were so nervous due to the King’s arrival, the cake was baked undercook.  Some liquid remained in the middle of it. But the King loved the taste. The undercook cake is the way it is best known at the moment.  

Return to BTS.  The more curious I am the more I listen to their songs.  Searched like crazy their translation one by one. Watched the video of their songs’ interpretation and how the songs had impact to people’s life at all ranges of age.  The positive messages in BTS songs make the ARMY – its group of fandom – love BTS so much.   My jaw dropped when I watch DKDK TV explaining the meaning of “Daetchwita” by Suga. Too much to be swallowed. Suga is a genius. So, I found two limited edition persons in BTS. How about the others? Each member has a unique personality. This is what I thought.

Jin, the world wide handsome guy. The big brother of the members. You care about the other members so much. Their smiles are your smile. The childish side of you is your private box, a place where you store your happiness. Don’t change. Just keep your childish side as you keep your happiness.

Jimin, an angel heart human. You always put the others first before yourself. I am happy to see you dancing 24/7. It is really a perfection. It is also fun seeing you bothering the others.  It is good that the members understand your kindness. In real life, when you give bread to someone, he might throw a stone to you as the return. You are blessed with good people around you.

V, the most handsome guy in the world. You’re a spoiled boy. No wonder since as a child, you lived with your grandparents and grandparents would never say ‘no’ to the grandchildren.  And you want everyone to treat you the same as your grandparents did to you. You’ll be very unhappy when you did not get what you want. Luckily, the members – and the company - are a bunch of nice people. They just let you do whatever you want, because a talented person like you is a big asset. If you live as a normal person – like us who need job to support ourselves -  with your attitude, you will have a hard time during your life time.

J-Hope. I don’t know why but every time I see you I feel the tension within you. For me, it seems like you’re covering up the anxious feeling inside you. Take the yoga class. Breathe. Just calm down. You don’t have to run to achieve something. Take a step at a time.

Jungkook, the golden maknae. For me,  spiritually, you are the most mature compare to the others. You really know who you are. The problem is, you want to do many things at the same time. It is all about making priority. If I could give you an advice. Just finish your education, until master degree, and perhaps go to PhD degree in composing music. When you’re studying, you’re concentrating, and you make priority. Education is not about gaining the title, but it is about developing your mind, your way of thinking. Education will broaden your horizon in seeing the world. Then, choose the subject that you’re very good at. Take a step at a time.

Suga, the limited edition person. You’re a genius. You’re so good in music. I listen to your D-2 album again and again and again. We share the same zodiac. So  I see me in you. Now I know why  you had such a grumpy zombie attitude so far. That shots. That pain killer. It killed your senses. After the surgery, you’re just a different person, with a wider smile and brighter eyes. Sometime it is tiring to be the centre of attention, isn’t ? I understand the feeling since sometimes I want to be a transparent human, so no one will glance at me. Then I could do anything I want without thinking that people are watching. I tell you a secret. Swimming naked at the sea will give you such a fantastic feeling. However, do you know that spiritual people want to be at your position, with no worry on money, most of the time there are only you, yourself and the creator – God. There are no others. I enjoy my loneliness. During that time, I will call God’s name as many as I can. Choose some of his 99 names. I am a Moslem, we call it as ‘dzikir’. The more I mention his names, the more I feel serenity within me. In catholic, they use ‘rosario’ to do it.  

Namjoon, the forever leader. You’re a very good leader. You know exactly the characteristic of each member and gently push them from behind to make them the best as they can. High intelligence person. I support what people say “President Namjoon”. The problem is, your mind is so complicated. You answered a question in a complicated way. This complicatedness will drive you crazy. So keep it simple st”””d.  To learn how to think in a simple way, do PhD degree. I did my PhD with so much struggle and efforts. But it is worth, since it’s easier for me to understand things in a simple way. BTW, don’t worry about grammar.  We even do not speak proper grammar in our mother tongue language, even less other language. Who cares?

As a middle age woman, it is weird for many of my colleagues seeing me liking a K-pop group.  On the other hand, I feel grateful that we live at the same era where I could witness your existence during my lifetime. As I told you I am a Moslem. In my religion, the best human is the one who could bring positive impact to the others, materially and spiritually. BTS is the examples.  I will pray to God, that whatever the religion you have – or maybe you don’t have one – God will let you live in heaven someday as during your life time you all are the best human.

BTS songs now are my lullaby. No matter how noisy it is, including D-2 album, I fell asleep easily with the songs. So keep up the good work. It is nice to know you all. Thank you for your existence guys. Thank you for all the songs. Thank you for all the things BTS do. And thank you for making me writing again as I left my blog more than 5 years now. Thank you.
